#ARGO – We don’t want you to forget the 1979 #Iran hostage crisis

The film is based on accounts of the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis [wikipedia]. Not based on actual facts of what really happened, but some accounts that are embellished in the movie for theatrical reasons. You know, to make the whole thing more exciting Hollywood style. This included the addition to the film of ‘several fictional events’ for dramatic reasons.

Affleck noted, “Because we say it’s based on a true story, rather than this is a true story, we’re allowed to take some dramatic license. There’s a spirit of truth.
